  • Debit Card Directions
    By Shannon O. McGinnis

Wise people realize that using a credit card is spending money that is not their own. Not only must this money be paid back, but also more must be paid back than was borrowed. One alternative is known as the debit card. A debit card is used to spend money that is yours and instead of costing you, any money left in the account usually earns more money for you.

A debit card is much safer than carrying cash and can be used almost anywhere in the world where cash is accepted. A stack of bills may make a bulge in your purse or pocket, but the debit card is not noticeable and can be kept in a safe place as you move about.

One must be as responsible in spending with a debit card as with cash. Sometimes using the card is so easy, we don’t think about the money coming out of our account. So I suggest when you use the card, you visualize how much money you are spending and imagine you can see the money flying out of your account.

Every person must continually examine their spending habits and use caution with any kind of banking tool, such as the debit card. A savings can almost always be found in items that we habitually buy, but don’t really need. So, when you pull out your debit card to buy a soft drink, bottled water, or a movie ticket, think about what you are giving up.

Remember to keep an eye on your debit card. Don’t write down your pin number where it can be found, and never give anyone your pin number or let them use your card. Watch what you use your debit card for and keep in mind that every time you use it, cash is flying out of your account.
