| Be An Entrepreneur This Summer! |

 I've come to the conclusion that when many teens think of summer employment many of them can only think of grueling, tedious, boring jobs. Here are a few of the reasons I’ve heard teens give to not apply for jobs. - There are too many kids looking for summer jobs, there’s no way I’m going to find one.
- All the jobs that I find will be boring. I’ll be stuck answering phones or delivering pizzas.
- Without any inside connections I’ll never get a job working where I want.
Well, I found a little trick to solve many of teenagers’ summer employment woes.
Have you ever considered working in your own neighborhood? Think about it, you must know plenty of people in your area that have many different needs and would be ready and willing to pay someone to get things done. There are opportunities practically inviting you to take them. Plus you can offer to do pretty much any service you find interesting.
My sister and I once put in a joint effort doing yard work for my next-door neighbor. We walked away 4 hours later, each holding $40. Imagine that! We got paid $10.00 an hour! That’s much more than you can hope to earn in many establishments for only a summer job.
But you don’t just have to do yard work to start earning money; you can make fliers offering any number of services you can perform. You can become the neighborhood’s Jack-of-All-Trades.
For example, if you like to type and are proficient in that particular area then why not offer that as your service. You’d be surprised at how many people in the 21st century just aren’t very quick with their typing skills. Offer to type various documents for people around the neighborhood and just wait and see how many people decide to take up your offer. Set a reasonable amount to charge per hour and you’re on your way to becoming an entrepreneur. |
