Smart Tips!
By Jessica Roth
Don’t you hate it when you go to the store and see an item being sold for $20 less than what you paid for it two weeks ago? I have learned the lesson on how to shop smart. Millions of people buy products at ridiculous prices everyday. They spend big bucks on clothes, shoes, make-up, and many other items. My goal is to make you a smarter shopper, so you won’t be persuaded into wasting your money on high prices.

Smart Tip Number 1: Look for Generic Brands

Dollar stores and discount stores are excellent places to start. They have everything you can imagine. It may not be the fancy names, but it is practically the same product. The name brand companies make most generic brands. So don’t be fooled by fancy labels. Remember you are buying the product not the label.

Smart Tip Number 2: Look for Coupons

The Sunday paper hosts lots of savings. Almost every ad contains some type of coupon. Say you find a really good coupon on shampoo; buy a couple of bottles of it and you will save big in the long run. Remember that coupons do have expiration dates, so don’t hold on to them for too long.

Smart Tip Number 3: Look for the Sales

Department stores are the best at running sales. They have holiday sales and annual sales. Sometimes everything in store is a certain percent off. If there is an item that you have your eye on, ask a clerk if they will be running any sales soon. You never know when it will be your lucky day. Only buy something if you need it, not just because it’s on sale.

Hopefully after reading these helpful tips, you are now all smart shoppers. You know where to look and where to spot the best price around town. Now get out there and do some smart shopping.
